Ugyen Wangdi

Born 1961, from Trashigang

I fell in love with art in primary school during my weekly art classes, even though we would mostly just copy sample images drawn on a blackboard by the art teacher.

Discovering works by the world’s greatest artists was a revelation and inspiration. I would examine these masterpieces meticulously and try to replicate their techniques into my own work.

I paint landscapes, portraits, wildlife and anything else that catches my eye. Every new painting is a learning experience for me. I feel I’ve been blessed with a special gift and it is incredibly satisfying to know that I can spread some joy around through my paintings.
