Bluebirds of Happiness
Art Description
This abstract painting depicts bluebirds and flowers of the plant Lily of the Valley, both symbols of joy and happiness. The rhythmic interplay of vibrant colors, and layers of spontaneous brushstrokes making patterns and geometric shapes unique to the textiles and architecture of Bhutan, create an engaging visual journey that guides the viewer’s eye from one corner of the canvas to another. The calming and centering blues of the birds and the windows, the radiant and uplifting tints of yellow, and the spiritual and transformative color effect of purple were specifically used for their healing and emotive power on our mind, body, and spirit.

My work is a spontaneous creative process, exploring and combining dualities of abstraction and representation. It is a visible platform of the outer physical realm and the inner awareness.
I am interested in the use of lines as forms. My mark-making process has a ritualistic and dance-like movement to it.
I use the unique textiles and architecture of Bhutan to create an engaging visual journey that guides the viewer’s eye around the canvas. The emotive power of vibrant colors conveys feelings of joy, bliss, and a sense of positivity, a reflection of my own feelings.
