A Painter’s Quest

Art Description

As a painter, he grapples with his inner self, acknowledging moments of selfishness that hinder his ability to aid others. To transcend this, he dedicates prayers to all living beings, paralleling his journey with the natural world. He seeks a mentor, metaphorically woven into the mandala he creates and the serene surroundings he inhabits. His quest for enlightenment through cleansing walks, represented by the water within the mandala and the rejuvenating energy of his environment, ultimately revealing his path forward.

Kinley Namgyel

Born 1990, from Zhemgang

In 2008, I joined the National Institute for Zorig Chusum after completing Grade 10 in 2007. My training there concluded in 2013. From 2014 till date, I have been working as an independent artist. Among various styles, traditional Thangka painting resonates with me the most, providing comfort as I continually learn and find joy in depicting gods and goddesses. I aspire to gather like-minded friends in the future, collaborating on more traditional Thangka artworks and exploring this realm globally. Currently based in Paro Dzongkhag, I am excited for what lies ahead.
