Atsara Mandala Offering /Jester Healing Gestures

Art Description

Atsaras are enlightened jesters who have realised the Samsaric truths of petty human emotions. It is said that Atsaras roamed the world, mocking worldly objects to overcome evil and bring healing.

The weathered background is a symbolic nod to the resilient paintings on old stone walls and ceilings which have survived the test of time.

A mandala represents the cosmos. Used as an external expression to find the universe within, often, the mandala shows the transition of the spiritual journey, starting from outside to the inner core.

The recent pandemic taught us that impermanence is the only reality. Amidst the chaos, the golden light in the Atsara’s perpetual smile and comic gestures nudges us to submission and surrender.

“What is, is. What isn’t, isn’t.” My path to becoming an artist is through my necessity for self-actualization, the realization of my full inner potential through art, creativity, independence and spontaneity while being mindful of my limitations, acceptance and a grasp of the real world throughout my life. I am always discovering my being, transcending and evolving, by producing (textured, experimental, unexpected and improvisational mixed media) artworks that create new and unpredictable cycles of thoughts.

In my varied and diverse approaches to making art, I hope to invite and provoke the viewer into a state of speculation, by conveying the idea of juxtaposition and ironic twist of images with a chance to challenge one’s thoughts, perspectives and expectations.
